ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister, Rahman Malik Saturday said that some Punjab cops were also caught from among the protestors, who had come from Rawalpindi to Islamabad, but the federal police had released their fellow brothers, Geo News reported.
Federal Interior Minister, Rahman Malik, while visiting Polyclinic here, enquired about the health of the policemen, who were wounded in yesterday’s violent demos.
Later talking to media, he announced giving promotions and awards to the wounded policemen, who braved the onslaught of the raiding protestors. He said that the injured constables would be promoted as ASIs, while the wounded ASIs would be awarded Sitar-e-Juraat.
Rahman Malik said that videos have made of those involved in violent incidents, who would be presented before the magistrate and later to the media.
Interior minister said that the protestors yesterday were given a free passage from Faizabad to Islamabad. Six Punjab policemen from among the protestors were caught from the rallies, but a federal policeman and one Reader of the Assistant Commissioner had released them after it was revealed that they were fellow policemen. He said that this was being investigated.
