ISLAMABAD: The severe cold wave that has hit upper parts of the country is creating hazards for the people as many link roads have been closed due to snow and people are facing difficulties in carrying out day-to-day chores, Geo News reported.

The temperature in Skardu has dropped to –13 degree Centigrade while many link roads in Gilgit-Baltistan have been closed due to the snowfall.

The mercury has also dropped in Malakand and Hazara Division where unavailability of gas has added to the misery of the people while the cost of woods used as fuel has also soared due to the cold weather.

The upper parts of Balochistan and Azad Kashmir have received heavy snowfall while the weather in tribal areas including Waziristan and Kurram Agency is also cold.

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had forecast mainly cold and dry weather for most parts of the country during the next few days.

The lowest minimum temperatures recorded during the last 24 hours were Parachinar –11 C, Hunza, Gilgit –06 C, Gupis –05 C, Quetta, Drosh, Rawalakot –03 C, Murree and Bunji –02 C.
