ISLAMABAD: The director legal for the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Thursday told the Supreme Court of Pakistan that there was no report about the detention of former OGRA chairman Tauqir Sadiq.
However, he said the ex-OGRA chief, allegedly involved in Rs 80 billion scam, was traced in the United Arab Emirates.
During the hearing of a case pertaining to embezzlement and misuse of authority in Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) a three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry expressed dissatisfaction over the report over the arrest of Sadiq.
Justice Jawwad S Khuwaja remarked the state agencies had proved through their act that the law was not for the rich. He observed it was yet to be ascertained as to how Tauqir Sadiq escaped despite lapse of four weeks.
