KARACHI: The Sindh High Court issued notices to the concerned parties to present themselves in court on January 29, regarding the petition for the deferment of the by-election on 6 provincial assembly seats vacated due to dual nationalities.
Election Commission of Pakistan and Sindh government have been made a party in the petition and the stance taken is that the as the general elections are approaching and discussions are underway to form an interim government, holding of by-elections would be unnecessary.
The seats had been vacated after Raza Haroon, Askari Naqvi, Dr. Mohammad Ali Shah, Abdul Maeed Siddiqui of the MQM and Murad Ali Shah and Sadiq Memon of the PPP resigned due to dual nationalities. February 18 had been set for the by-elections.
