ISLAMABAD: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has presented the report to Supreme Court regarding the arrest of former Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) chairman Tauqir Sadiq in Abu Dhabi, Geo News reported on Thursday.
A two-judge bench of apex court comprising of Justice Jawwad S Khawaja and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain was hearing the Tauqir Sadiq appointment case here today.
During today’s proceedings, the FIA officials presented the report pertaining to the arrest of Tauqir Sadiq in Abu Dhabi and told the bench that Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has been asked to prepare the handover file of Tauqir Sadiq.
On this, Justice Khawaja remarked that there is no agreement about handing over of accused persons between Pakistan and UAE. The evidences suggest that these documents will never be prepared and Sadiq will not return to Pakistan, he added.
Justice Khilji reamrked that the case is not about handing over but it is about a Pakistani citizen whose passport has been annulled.
Tauqir Sadiq has been accused of misusing his position as chairman of OGRA. The suspect escaped to UAE after SC ordered his arrest. He was arrested from Abu Dhabi earlier on Tuesday.
