Caretaker PM to be equally responsible for holding free, fair election: CEC

KARACHI: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim has said the caretaker Prime Minister will be equally responsible for holding free and fair general election in the country as the Commission itself.

Talking to media personnel here‚ he said holding of elections on time is essential to secure future of the country.

“We have made mistakes in the past but now we are working 18 hours a day for free and fair election”, the CEC said.

To a question about maintenance of law and order during the process of general election‚ he said it is the responsibility of the government not of the Election Commission.
