ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf Thursday said that the country was passing through an extraordinary phase but there is a general agreement for a need to have a strong democratic set up in the country.

"Today, Pakistan has an independent judiciary, free media and an autonomous Parliament. All are on same page for a need to have strong democratic set up," the Premier said while addressing a diner reception here at Pakistan Administrative Service Association here.

He said the present government had made amendments having a far-reaching effect but, added that they will due time to have their impact.

"We are passing through an extraordinary phase which requires extraordinary reaction," he asserted.
