QUETTA: A disgruntled Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) woman worker attempted to immolate herself after she was denied a party ticket to contest in the general elections to be held in May, Geo News reported.
Reportedly, PML-N leadership had refused Sakina Mengal a ticket to run for one of the reserved seats for women, which frustrated her to the extent that she poured kerosene oil all over her body and tried to set herself on fire outside Quetta Press Club, however fellow workers did not let her strike a match.
Later police arrested Mengal for attempted suicide.
According to sources a resentful Sakina Mengal was unhappy with the PML-N top brass, which she said, awarded tickets to junior party members bypassing a senior worker like her.
“I condemn this sheer injustice as it is not like Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz at all. It runs counter to the true spirit of the party. I should be awarded a party ticket when I deserve it”, said she talking to media afterwards.
