Army chief calls for unity against terrorism

KAKUL: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani has urged the nation to unite and develop consensus against terrorism and other challenges faced by it.

The Army Chief was addressing a ceremony at the military academy in Kakul on Independence Day on Wednesday.

Kayani said to win the war against terrorism, the entire nation has to form consensus on one strategy, adding that while there could be a difference of opinion on strategy against terrorism, however, bowing before it is not a solution.

The COAS said the country faced a number of internal and external challenges. He said terrorists could not be be allowed to succeed in their nefarious designs.

Ashfaq Pervez Kayani vowed to make Pakistan an Islamic welfare state, saying that all efforts will be made to achieve this goal.
