PP-150 vote recount on Sept 2: ECP

LAHORE: Election Commissioner Punjab, Mehboob Anwar Thursday announced that the vote recount will be undertaken for PP-150 Lahore on September 2, in line with the ECP’s earlier decision to hold a recount of votes in the said constituency on the demand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Geo News reported.

Mehboob Anwar told Geo News that the concerned Returning Officer would hold the vote recount for PP-150 in his court on September 2.

All the participating candidates including Marghoob Ahmed of Pakistan Muslim League-N who was declared winner and the runner up, Mehar Wajid of PTI will be invited to witness the recount.

After the by-elections of August 22, the ECP results showed that PTI’s Mehar Wajid had lost by 376 votes. However, the PTI rejected the poll result and staged vociferous protests, calling for a recount of votes.

Taking notice of the same, the ECP ordered to undertake vote recount in the said constituency.
