ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s army chief on Monday told the political leadership of the country that civil and military leadership were on the same page over the issue of national security.

General Kayani briefed the political leadership gathered at the All Parties Conferee (APC) to discuss national security policy and to hold talks with Taliban militants and answered the queries raised by senior politicians attending the moot.

The APC was called by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, whom Taliban had chosen as a guarantor for peace talks with Islamabad before the May 11 general election.

Terrorism, crippling energy crisis and tattered economy are the major challenges Nawaz Sharif government is facing following the general election.

There has been skepticism about idea of holding talks with militants as some political commentators said military and the PML-N government was not on same page over the issue.

However, Kayani, during the question answer session, made it clear that the military and civil leadership were on the same page to tackle the menace of terrorism.
