ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s Advisor on foreign affairs, Sartaj Aziz will leave for Tehran today to attend a meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECO) and to discuss the multi-billion dollars Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline with the top leadership of Iran during his two-day visit, Geo News reported.
Sources said that Sartaj Aziz would also call on the Iranian president Hassan Rouhani besides holding meetings with other senior leaders of the country.
The visit is taking place at a time when Iran and the major powers have reached a deal on nuclear programme as Pakistan has always opposed use of force and called for negotiated settlement of the issue.
Following Iran nuclear agreement, Sartaj Aziz would be the first visiting foreign leader to express his country’s appreciation and good wishes to the Iranian leadership for a successful negotiated settlement of this burning issue.
