ISLAMABAD: Smugglers attacked Custom authorities on Islamabad Motorway after they busted a smuggling attempt and kidnapped a deputy superintendent while they released their aide and fled from the scene, Geo News reported Saturday.

Islamabad Custom with the help of motorway police had arrested four smugglers and seized a container carrying smuggled fabric and electronics items near Kalar Kahar.

Following the arrest, the other accomplices of culprits attacked the Custom officials near Islamabad toll plaza and freed their companions while they also took Deputy Superintendent Chaudhry Iftikhar with them.

SP Islamabad Jamil Hashmi reached the spot with police, however, the relevant police force of Naseerabad Police Station reached an hour late.

The seized container of smuggled items was then transported to Custom warehouse under tight security.
