KARACHI: General Secretary, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Taj Haider Saturday demanded of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain to announce dissociation from criminal elements that operate by using MQM’s name.

Addressing a press conference here, Taj Haider renounced his party’s link with extortion and land mafia.

He clarified that delimitation has been carried out on provincial constituencies and they, as such, have nothing to do with the local bodies’ elections.

He said the operation was underway against gangsters, extortionists and other criminals in Karachi, adding that some elements were misguiding the MQM Chief Altaf Hussain.

Taj Haider said delimitation of Karachi constituencies was also carried out during the former president Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf’s regime. With the exception of MQM, all other parties including ours had opposed delimitation of 78 constituencies.
