ISLAMABAD: Former president Pervez Musharraf’s counsel Friday morning submitted petition for seeking exemption of his client’s presence in the court, as the hearing of the treason case began in the special court here, Geo News reported.

A three-member bench headed by Justice Faisal Arab is hearing the case.

During the hearing, Pervez Musharraf’s counsel Anwar Mansoor pleaded that his client’s petition challenging the appointments of the prosecutor and the judges should be heard first before further proceeding in this case. He said that the court at no stage has taken up this petition for hearing thus far and any proceeding until the decision on the appointments of judges and prosecutors would be contrary to justice.

Anwar Mansoor further said that if the petition in question was heard and a decision taken on it, then Pervez Musharraf would appear in the court. He said Pervez Musharraf had been appearing in the courts and would appear in this court also if the petition challenging the appointment of judges and prosecutors heard and decided first.
