KARACHI: Karachi Police Chief, Shahid Hayat Saturday said help will be sought from agencies functioning under the federal government for conducting a probe into today’s armed attack on Geo News senior anchorperson Hamid Mir.

“If we had information of Hamid Mir’s arrival to Karachi, we would have provided the security,” Shahid Hayat said.

Hamid Mir sustained critical injuries after his car came under armed attack as he drove out of the Karachi airport this evening. Mir is presently fighting the battle of his life at a private hospital of the provincial capital.

Karachi Police Chief, Shahid Hayat said the initial investigation reveals that Hamid Mir was injured as a result of firing by armed motor cyclists. Mir was shot from a 9MM pistol, he added.
