LAHORE: Geo News senior anchor and journalist Iftikhar Ahmad was threatened on Ferozpur Road Monday night.

The threats were made at 22:42 when Iftikhar Ahmad stopped his vehicle at the traffic signal on Ferozpur Road and was set to take a turn towards Canal Road. Two persons wearing shalwar kameez (one in white colour and the other in sky blue) approached Mr Ahmad’s car and asked him to lower the window.

When Iftikhar Ahmad lowered the window one person approached him and said in a Punjabi accent: “How are you…Do you get more money for speaking against the Taliban. What is your relationship with Balochistan. Be careful the situation is getting worse.”

These threats were made within a timeframe of 20 seconds. According to Mr Ahmad a beggar wearing a burqa was also standing near them.

The Geo News senior anchor immediately informed the prime minister and chief minister. It is now up to the government to find out the real identity of these dreaded people who have tried to threaten yet another senior journalist.
