A spokesperson of the Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) has sought to assure power-outage-and-flood weary citizens that 1,500 of the body's workers are busy draining water from streets in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) and Clifton.
The spokesperson said that 146 small pumps and 18 heavy pumps are being used, besides 13 water suction bowsers.
Due to the sea level being high and Clifton and DHA being two areas which are close to the sea, drainage was not possible during heavy rains, according to the spokesperson.
The rain relays flowing from the southern part of Karachi cross the CBC areas and go into the sea, the spokesperson said.
Meanwhile,Sindh Assembly member Shehzad Qureshi demanded an audit of both CBC and DHA.

K-Electric, in a late night update, has assured citizens that the power utility is hard at work to power up the remaining locations experiencing electricity outages.

The Met Office has defended criticism of its forecast which many say failed to accurately portray the severity of monsoon rains that have hit the country this month.
"We had warned of rains in Karachi and interior Sindh three months prior," said the director general of the Pakistan Meteorological Department, Mohammad Riaz.
Riaz said that all the provinces and the National Disaster Management Authority had been briefed well in advance of high intensity showers in Sindh in particular.
He said that currently, rains in India and occupied Kashmir may lead to flooding of rivers.

Balochistan Provincial Disaster Management Authority said as many as 19 people including nine children and three women, lost their lives in rain-related incidents during the current month.
According to the report, nearly 13 people were injured during the downpour.

The Pakistan Army has set up at least 32 camps in Karachi following torrential rains, the Inter-Services Public Relations said.
The ISPR, in a statement, said that all areas of Karachi have been severely affected due to heavy rains.

The telecom regulator clarified on Friday that the cellular networks in Karachi were not blocked and the outage being faced by the users is due to prolonged power breakdown.
While talking to Geo.tv, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) spokesperson Khurram Mehran said, “due to prolonged power failure in the city many towers are out of service and generators are shut because there’s no fuel to power them”.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has talked to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and offered all-out help to victims of rains in Karachi, Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar said Thursday.

All the ambulance services in the city closed their operations on Thursday after the record-breaking rainfall in the city, added to the miseries of the people, The News reported Friday.
One of the families severely affected by the closure of ambulance services was of Kamran Mansoor whose sister passed away at the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) at around 2:30pm and his family could not find any ambulance until late in the night.

KARACHI: The storage capacity in the Hub dam remained even less than one-and-a-half feet as torrential rains battered Karachi and parts of Sindh on Thursday morning.
According to the chief engineer of the dam, every hour, 0.2ft of water enters the dam. "It is expected that the dam will fill to its capacity today," said chief engineer Ehtesham ul Haq.
He said that the excess water will spill from the dam onto the Hub river and eventually, go into the sea leading up to Mubarak Village.

The PMD warned that heavy rainfall may generate urban flooding/water logging in Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, and Badin from Monday to Tuesday.
