'Robber' killed in police encounter in Karachi

Police said a routine patrol came across three robbers looting citizens in Lines Area

KARACHI: A suspected robber was killed in a police encounter in Lines Area late Sunday, officials said.

The suspect was said to be involved in over 100 robberies and his name was also included in the police’s most-wanted list, claimed officials.

Police said that three robbers were looting valuables from citizens when the incident occurred. Officials said two of the remaining robbers fled the scene following the shootout.

According to SSP East Irfan Baloch, three robbers were looting citizens near Tunky Ground locality of Lines Area when a routine police patrol approached them.

An exchange of fire ensued as the police attempted to stop the robbers which left one suspect dead, the SSP informed.

He added that an investigation is under way and that a weapon was recovered from the deceased.

Exactly a week ago, on August 20, three suspects were shot dead during a similar police 'encounter' in Super Highway Industrial Area, security officials had said.

According to the police, the deceased suspects were looting citizens when they were shot.
