Karachi: 1,726 fall prey to target, sectarian killings in six months
LAHORE: As many as 1,726 people fell victim to target killings and sectarian violence in Karachi, during last six months of the current year, according to a report prepared by the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP).

In its report released from Lahore, the HRCP said in the previous year this figure was 1205 during the same period of time.

The commission said 291 people were killed in January, 271 in February, 311 in March, 262 in April, 278 in May and 313 in June 2013. It said these people fell victim of targeted killings, sectarian violence and other violent incidents.

The commission expressed concern over these figures and said it seemed that it was not the priority of the government to stop killing and violence in the financial hub.
