OGRA scam: Court extends physical remand of Tauqir Sadiq
ISLAMABAD: The accountability court on Tuesday granted ten days extension in the physical remand of former Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) chairman Tauqir Sadiq, who is the accused in a Rs82 billion scam case, Geo News reported.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had sought 14 days extension in the physical remand of the accused, however, the court approved ten days extension.

The court, then, instructed the authority to present Tauqir Sadiq again on August 2.

Tauqir Sadiq was presented in the accountability court today after his initial 14-day physical remand duration expired. During the hearing, Sadiq told the court that he has been subjected to torture during the investigation process.

The former OGRA chairman was placed on a 14-day physical remand following the request of the NAB prosecutor in the earlier hearing.

He had earlier alleged that NAB officials were threatening to break his legs, if he didn't say in court what has been dictated to him. Sadiq informed the court that he was being wrongly accused and that prominent personalities were involved in the scandal. “I will reveal details of these allegations against me and the individuals involved soon.”

The court had directed that Sadiq be medically examined after his assault allegations.
