Justice Baqar’s attacker admits to crime
KARACHI: The chief of the Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) death squad Abu Bakar alias Masoom Billa admitted to being behind the attack on Justice Maqbool Baqar. Abu Bakar admitted to his crime before a Judicial Magistrate Court on Wednesday.

An eyewitness after identifying Abubakar informed the court that he had seen the accused detonate the explosive device when he was repairing a flat tire. In his statement, Abubakar had also admitted to detonating the explosive device.

The mastermind of the attack, Bashir Leghari was earlier killed during a clash with police.

Abu Bakar had also been presented before the media after being arrested for involvement in the June 26 attack on Justice Baqar. Abu Bakar had made some startling revelations regarding terrorist activity and said the bike used in the attack was snatched from Sarjani Town and was packed with explosives at the residence of Bashir Leghari.

Abu Bakar also revealed that he was selected to carry out the attack and arrived at the site on June 26. According to Abu Bakar as soon as Justice Baqar’s vehicle arrived he detonated the explosive device.

On July 19, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had been informed by the Intelligence Bureau that the death squad chief of the LeJ identified as Masoom Billa had been arrested.
