Karachi will not be handed over to army: Abid Sher Ali
ISLAMABAD: PML-N leader and Minister of State for Water and Power, Abid Sher Ali said Tuesday that the army would not be called in Karachi.

Abid Sher Ali was the first PML-N leader to criticise the MQM’s demand seeking army deployment in Karachi to control the law and order situation. The PML-N leader said a political and democratic solution will be sought for the issues in the metropolis.

Abid Sher Ali added that the federal government was formulating a strategy over the failure of the Sindh government in Karachi.

Earlier, MQM chief Altaf Hussain had demanded that Karachi be placed under the control of the army as the provincial government had failed to maintain law and order. Mr Hussain’s demand was echoed by the MQM’s leaders Dr Farooq Sattar in the National Assembly and Tahir Mashadi in the Senate.
