Karachi Violence: PM calls special cabinet meeting
ISLAMABAD: As violence continues to tighten its grip around Karachi, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has called a special meeting of the federal cabinet next week to review the law and order situation in the city.

Sindh governor, chief minister, chief secretary, DG Rangers, DG ISI and DG IB would also be asked to attend the upcoming cabinet meeting.
Prime Minister Sharif said that the situation in Karachi was grave cause of concern and needed to be resolved with consensus.

According to sources, on the directives of Prime Minister Sharif an invitation to MQM leader, Dr Farooq Sattar has been extended to attend the cabinet session. It is expected that the federal cabinet will hear the stance of the MQM seeking the deployment of army in Karachi.

It may be recalled that Mutttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) had demanded handing over the administrative control of Karachi to the army during Tuesday’s National Assembly and Senate sessions, which was rejected by the government.
