SC nullifies appointment of DG Civil Aviation
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) on Wednesday declared null and void the appointment of DG Civil Aviation Khalid Chaudhry, Geo News reported.

The three-member SC bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and comprising Justice Jawwad S Khawaja and Justice Shaikh Azmat was hearing the case pertaining to delay in construction of new Islamabad Airport.

The court, while announcing the verdict in the case, declared appointment of DG CAA Khalid Chaudhry as null and void. The chief justice said appointment of the DG was against the law.

During the proceedings, Secretary CAA Muhammad Ali Gardezi informed the apex court that the project of new Islamabad Airport did not exist and that issue of alleged embezzlement has been handed over to FIA for investigation.

He said there was no water, electricity and road at the place, allegedly allocated for the new project.
