Economy witnessed upward trend in last eight months: Ishaq Dar
ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has said owing to the incumbent government’s policies Pakistan’s economy witnessed upward trend during last eight months.

The Finance Minister was giving an overview of government's eight month performance in economic sector at a news conference here Wednesday.

Dar said GDP has witnessed growth while inflation declining trend has also been endorsed by various international financial institutions including the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Inflation level remained 8.6 pc while GDP remained 4.4 pc during the first eight months of current fiscal year.

He said that tax collection has witnessed a growth of 17.7 pc as the government collected Rs1,348 billion in the first eight months as compared to Rs1,145 billion in the corresponding period last year.

Ishaq Dar further said remittances had grown 11pc as Pakistan received $10.24 billion by 28th February as compared to $9.23 billion during the corresponding period last year.
