Pakistan, Iran hold joint naval exercise in Strait of Hormuz
TEHRAN: Pakistani naval vessels arrived at the southern Iranian port of Bandar Abbas for an upcoming joint naval drill.

The report Sunday by Iranian official news agency quoted Iranian Rear Adm. Shahram Irani as saying the fleet will have presence in the maneuver that will began on Tuesday east of the strategic Strait of Hormuz, through which one fifth of the world's oil supply passes.

The report said Pakistani vessels include a warship, a submarine and a logistics vessel.

‘The most important program of the Pakistani fleet, during its stay in Bandar Abbas, is to launch joint maneuvers with selected units of Iran’s Navy in eastern waters of the Hormuz Strait,’ he said.

In the past, regional countries have had a presence at similar Iranian maneuvers as observers.
