Arms scandal: Ghazan Hoti remanded to NAB for 10 days

PESHAWAR: The Accountability Court of Peshawar on Wednesday handed over Ameer Ghazan Hoti to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on 10-day physical remand in arms scandal case, Geo News reported.

Ghazan Hoti, brother of former chief minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, was presented before the court, where his counsels argued that their client was being involved in the case on political grounds.

They said there was no need to put Ghazan into custody when reference had been filed and the investigation had also been completed.

The NAB officials prayed Ghazan is accused of taking commission of Rs195 million and they need 14 days physical remand for investigation.

After listening arguments, Judge Ibrahim Khan remanded Ghazan to NAB for 10-day physical remand.

The NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Tuesday arrested Ameer Ghazan Hoti in the Rs2.03 billion weapons procurement scam after the Peshawar High Court (PHC) dismissed his bail before arrest application.

The NAB officials, including senior investigation officer Colonel Hussain Afridi and others took Ameer Ghazan Hoti into custody from the high court premises and shifted him to the KP NAB headquarters.

Ameer Ghazan Hoti came to Pakistan from the United Arab Emirates on April 2 after the high court restrained the NAB from arresting him. On April 3, he appeared in the high court with his close relatives including ANP leader Asfandyar Wali Khan’s son Aimal Wali. The high court had granted him pre-arrest bail till April 15.
