Petition seeks laws against cannibalism
LAHORE: A petition was filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday seeking laws against cannibalism in Pakistan.

The petition filed by Kashif Muhammad Advocate seeks laws against cannibalism and has lead to the LHC issuing notices to the Law Ministry and Council of Islamic Ideology. Notices have also been issued to IGP Punjab and DCO Bhakkar.

On Tuesday, two brothers accused for cannibalism in Bhakkar were presented in an anti-terrorism court and sent on a seven-day physical remand.

The brothers were charged under anti-terrorism laws and for desecrating a human body as there is no specific offence for cannibalism in Pakistani law.

The pair had been arrested for eating human corpses in the same village in 2011 and served two years in prison in a case that shocked Pakistan.
