Nation stands united behind army: PM
KAKUL: Underlining the need to work together in harmony for achieving national objectives, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said the country’s defence could not be made invincible without wiping out terrorism and building up a strong economy.







Delivering a key-address at the 129th PMA long course passing-out parade at the Military Academy here, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said the government would provide all possible resources to the army for making the country’s defence impregnable.

The prime minister told the army not to forget that the nation stands behind them adding that they should keep abreast of the latest technological developments.

Addressing the cadets, PM Nawaz Sharif said that they should keep in mind the role of officers like General Raheel Sharif and his younger brother Major Shabbir Sharif who was martyred in the 1971 war.

PM Nawaz Sharif said: “training has made you capable of fighting the challenges of tomorrow. There are several responsibilities imposed over your shoulders. PMA is considered as the best institution for grooming military leadership.”

A large number of senior serving and retired armed forces officers, parents of cadets, foreign diplomats and relatives of graduating cadets witnessed the spectacular parade. Seven of the passed out cadets hail from Palestine and Bahrain.

Earlier, the prime minister inspected the parade. He gave Quaid-e-Azam flag to Hamza Company for excellent performance.

Army Chief General Raheel Sharif received the Prime Minister on his arrival at Kakul.

Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid also attended the ceremony.
