PM inaugurates additional units of Guddu Power Plant
GUDDU: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif inaugurated two units of 243 MW each at the Guddu Power Plant on Monday as part of the government’s efforts to meet the energy shortfall in the country.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said if projects initiated in 1999 had continued Pakistan would have had a prominent global standing. The prime minister added that loadshedding will be eliminated following the construction of several other power houses in the country.

The prime minister thanked China for cooperation in the power plant He said that soon an announcement will be made with Chief Minister Sindh for the inauguration of the Karachi-Lahore motorway.

In his address at the inauguration Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif said the completion of the project seven months ahead of time will save Rs58 billion. He added that next month a third unit generating 261 MW will also become operational.
