Karachi: 3 killed, 11 injured in seminary blast

KARACHI: Three students were killed and several others injured as a result of a blast at their seminary located in the SITE area on Monday.

Police said the bomb was not hurled from outside but was in someone’s possession inside the seminary. An injured student said he had found the grenade from a nearby drain which exploded when he was showing it to other students at the seminary.

Earlier it was reported that unidentified criminals riding a motorcycle had hurled a hand grenade at the seminary located on Frontier Roundabout in the jurisdiction of the Moninabad Police Station.

The three students killed were between the ages of 7 and 12.

Rescue teams reached the blast site and shifted the bodies and injured to the hospital. Nearby building were also partially damaged due to the impact caused by the explosion.

Police personnel cordoned off the area and started an investigation.
