Kashmiris observing martyrs’ day today

Complete shutdown in occupied Kashmir and a march towards Naqashband Sahib in Srinagar where martyrs of 1931 are buried marked the day.
On July 13, 1931, the Dogra troops had killed 22 Kashmiris, one after the other, outside the Central Jail in Srinagar. They had gathered in the jail premises to attend the court proceedings against one Abdul Qadeer who had asked the Kashmiri people to defy the Dogra rule.
In Srinagar, two seminars were held yesterday to pay glowing tributes to the martyrs of the 13th July 1931. The veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, addressing over telephone the seminar organized by Hurriyet Conference Jammu and Kashmir, said that the Kashmiris were continuing the mission of their martyrs and over 600 Graveyards of Martyrs were its proof. He said that pro-India politicians had no right to commemorate the martyrdom anniversaries of the martyrs. In their addresses, senior Hurriyet leaders including Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Ghulam Nabi Sumjhi, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Shabbir Ahmed Dar, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Meraj-ed-Din Kalwal and Altaf Ahmed Shah said that the mission of Kashmiri martyrs was destined to succeed, come what may.
The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, addressing another seminar organized at the APHC headquarters said that the movement started on 13th July, 1931, was still going on and would continue till it reached the logical end. Other speakers included Maulana Abbas Ansari, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza, Javed Ahmed Mir, Zafar Akbar Butt, Hilal Ahmed War, Mir Shahid Saleem, Syed Saleem Gilani and Ghulam Hassan Mir. Professor Abdul Ghani Butt, Musaddiq Aadil, Syed Bashir Andrabi and other Hurriyet leaders and activists attended the seminar.
A resolution passed in the seminar demanded withdrawal of Indian troops from civilian areas, repeal of black laws from the occupied territory, release of all illegally detained Kashmiris and lifting of curbs on movement of Hurriyet leadership.
