Karachi, interior Sindh receive rain, face power outages

KARACHI: After light rain most parts of the city are without electricity and water supply as high tension lines reportedly tripped on Friday morning.

Areas affected by power outages include Defence, North Karachi, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar and their surrounding areas.

Similarly, power supply to as many as 13 districts of interior Sindh was severed after Jamshoro National Grid Station caught fire.

Sources said the Jamshoro National Grid Station caught fire during the rain throwing 13 districts of the province of Sindh without power supply, which included Jamshoro, Dadu, Nawabshsh, Hyderabad, Matiari, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Thatta, Sajawal, Badin, Tando Mohammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Umarkot, and Yharparkar.

Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) spokesman said that repair work of the grid station was underway and power supply would soon be restored.
