Zardari says ‘political resolution’ only way forward
LAHORE: Former president and Pakistan People’s Party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari says he has advised Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to resolve the prevailing political crisis politically.

Addressing a press conference on Saturday, he said he had requested Mian Sahib to show restrain and deal the issues politically.

Mr Zardari flanked by senior PPP leaders told journalists that Pakistan was battling insurgency and “we need to stand by our armed forces to put and end to menace of terrorism”.

Zardari said he has met JI Amir Sirjaul Haq, Chaudhry Pervez Elahi and telephoned Altaf Hussain and Maulana Fazlur Rehman and stressed the need to resolve issues through dialogue. “We believe the more a tree is bending, the stronger it is,” he said while responding to questions.

He said that foul language was used against him when he was president but he never responded. The PPP leader said that a democratic government should not challenge another democratic government, he said in a reference to the federal and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governments.

“In my view we all are umpires and there is no third umpire,” he said when asked to comment on Imran Khan’s speech.

He said all the stakeholders should work out a solution that is in the interest of Pakistan.

The PPP co-chairman said in the prevailing situation if anyone should emerge a winner it must be made sure that it was Pakistan.
