Mid-term polls can’t be effected by force: Shah
ISLAMABAD: Opposition leader in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah on Tuesday ruled out mid-term elections in the country through use of force.

“Forcible holding of mid-term polls could adversely impact the circumstances,” Khursheed Shah said while talking to media persons at his chamber in the Parliament House.

He said mid-term polls can be organized only in a case where circumstances become such as to prompt the Prime Minister to announce himself the holding of ballot.

The opposition leader termed dialogue as the only remedy to the issues, even Pakistan and India came into being as a result of talks.

“It is our utmost effort that the current system works. We want the Parliament to remain intact,” he asserted.

He said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chier Imran Khan talked about changing the system. “Which system does he want in the country – Parliamentary, presidential or some other dispensation?”

Terming the Pakistan People’s Party’s public rally on October 18 a continuity of political struggle, Khursheed Shah said it would be an indicative of the PPP’s power.
