MWM, ASWJ urge MQM to withdraw call for protest
KARACHI: The Majlis Wahdatul Muslimin (MWM) has urged the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) to withdraw its call for black day as a sign of respect for the holy month of Muharram.

A spokesman for the MWM said “We appeal to all political parties including MQM to postpone their protest as a sign of respect for month of Muharram”.

He said Muharram itself was the name of a protest against oppression and oppressors.

Meanwhile, Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) leader Aurangzaib Farooqui deplored the MQM call for the protest on the first day of Muharram which is also Youm-e-Shahadat of Hazrat Umar Farooq (R.A).

He also urged MQM to withdraw the call for the protest.
