Zahid Hamid resigns after being included in treason case
ISLAMABAD: Zahid Hamid on Friday tendered his resignation as Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Geo News reported.

The Prime Minister House confirmed the news after receiving his resignation.

It may be mentioned that the resignation comes after the special court accepted former military ruler General (retd) Pervez Musharraf’s plea to include three others including Zahid Hamid in the treason trial.

The court, in a majority decision, directed the government to include former PM Shaukat Aziz, then law minister Zahid Hamid and ex-CJ Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar in the list of abettors which has names of 600 civil and military officials.

The court ordered the federal government to initiate treason proceedings under Article 6 of the Constitution against the three co-accused who were part of Musharraf’s November 3 decision to impose state of emergency in the country in 2007.
