KARACHI: Three Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) lawmakers and 26 other people sustained injuries in the hand grenade attack on party’s camp in Orangi Town Unit 5 area of Karachi, Geo News reported.

MQM spokesman Wasay Jalil has confirmed that three members of Sindh Assembly belonging to MQM were wounded in the attack.

He said, ‘three of our MPAs Mr. Muhammad Hussain, Mr. Abdullah & Mr. Saifuddin Khalid are injured in the attack.’

It is pertinent to mention here that MQM’s membership campaign is underway across Pakistan.

Splinter group of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Jamaatul Ahrar, has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The group’s spokesman, Ehsanullah Ehsan on the micro-blogging website claimed the responsibility of cracker attack.

In his tweets, Ehsanullah Ehsan said the attack on MQM is the part of their drive against Awami National Party (ANP), MQM, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN). He added such attacks on these parties will continue.

On the other hand, MQM chief Altaf Hussain telephoned injured lawmakers and workers, and said that these cowardly attacks could not discourage the party men.
