Siraj calls on Punjab govt to fulfill farmers' demands
LAHORE: Amir Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Sirajul Haq on Thursday condemned what he described as torture on the protesting farmers in Lahore, exhorting the Punjab Chief Minister to fulfill the protesters' legitimate demands.

In a media statement, Sirajul Haq called for fixing the support prices for wheat, rice, sugarcane and cotton produce.

The JI Amir demanded of the Punjab government to withdraw General Sales Tax (GST) on fertilisers, pesticides and agricultural machinery.

He said ready crops of wheat were destroyed by a storm in South Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. “The government should have come forward to sympathise with the growers and encourage them,” he regretted.
