Model Ayyan Ali sent on judicial remand yet again
RAWALPINDI: Fashion model Ayyan Ali was sent on a judicial remand for the ninth time on Monday since she was arrested from the airport for allegedly smuggling 0.5 million dollars on a Dubai-bound flight.

Ayyan was presented in a Rawalpindi Customs court today with former Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khosa as her counsel after expiry of her earlier remand.

Upon Khosa's presence in court, Special Customs court Judge Rana Aftab Ahmed remarked if the senior lawyers had appeared in court ot defend his son Advocate Khurram Latif Khosa. The remark brought smiles to the faces of people present in the court.

Khosa replied that he had appeared to defend Ayyan.

Due to a strike by lawyers' associations, the hearing on the money-laundering case was adjourned to June 15 without any substantial proceedings, while the hearing for her bail application will take place tomorrow (Tuesday).

Speaking to Geo News, Ayyan said that she would soon respond to the allegation leveled against her.

The model met her counsel alone in the courtroom for 15 minutes before she was taken back to prison by police personnel.

Customs Inspector Yousuf Mughal, who had recovered the 0.5 million dollars from the Ayyan, says that the model may face between four to 14 years in jail in the crime is proved in court.
