US drone strike kills top IS leader in Afghanistan, Pakistan
Former Taliban militant and now believed to be the leader of Daesh (IS) in Pakistan and Afghanistan, Hafiz Saeed Khan, has been killed in a US drone strike, the Afghan intelligence agency said Saturday.

Saeed was among the 30 militants killed when the drone targeted their compound in Afghanistan's Nangarhar Province.

This is the second US drone strike in the past three days to have targeted leaders of the militant group in Afghanistan.

Earlier this week Shahidullah Shahid, the former spokesman of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) who had defected to IS, was also killed in a US drone strike in the same province, which lies on the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
