Shiv Sena offers Rs 1 lakh for 'slapping' Aamir Khan
Hardline Hindu nationalist party Shiv Sena has offered Rs100,000 for anyone who 'slaps' Bollywood actor Aamir Khan for his comments on rising intolerance in India.

According to reports in the Indian media, Shiv Sena activists gathered outside the hotel where Khan is staying on Wednesday, hurling abuses against the superstar and calling for him to leave the country if he is "so irritated over the situation here".

The protestors also burnt his photographs, disrupting traffic in the city.

"Any person who slaps Aamir Khan would be rewarded Rs 1 lakh by our organization. This is important because no one living in our country should dare to say anything against India," said local Shiv Sena leader Rajeev Tandon, who was leading the protest.

"Anyone from the hotel staff to the crew can slap him and take the reward," he was quoted as saying.

The popular actor has found himself at the centre of a controversy following an interview earlier this week in which he said his wife Kiran had suggested leaving India in view of growing intolerance in the country.

The actor of PK – Aamir Khan's blockbuster movie of 2014 – also showed support for the artists and creative people who had returned their awards in protest over the growing climate of intolerance in India.

On Wednesday, Ramdas Kadam — a Shiv Sena minister in the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Maharashtra government — said that actor Amir Khan “can go to Pakistan” if he didn’t love India and that people such as Amir, Shahrukh and Dilip Kumar were like “snakes”, considering their statements.

“If he doesn’t love the country any more, then he can go to Pakistan,” Kadam said.
Notable Indian celebrities such as Anupam Kher, Raveena Tandon, Rishi Kapoor and Ram Gopal Varma have slammed Aamir Khan in the media for his comments and for calling India intolerant.

So far, Aamir has received support only from Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman who says he faced a similar situation months ago.
