One dead, 18 injured in SUPARCO bus blast near Hub

KARACHI: At least one person was killed and 18 were others injured in a powerful bicycle-bomb blast at a bus-stop in Mawach Goth near Hub Chowki on Sindh-Balochistan border, Geo News reported.

Majority of the injured was Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) employees on board a bus.

The identity of the one killed has not been ascertained yet.

According to SSP Amir Farooqui, SUPARCO bus was the likely target of this attack.

"The bus was damaged in the attack, which makes us believe it was the primary target of this improvised explosive device (IED) attack," said Farooqui.

The explosive device was planted on a bicycle, he added.

Most of injured were shifted to Murshid Hospital, whereas six were taken to Civil Hospital with four of them critical.

Later, one of the critically injured victims of the blast succumbed to his wounds in Civil Hospital.

Rangers, police, and SUPARCO officials have reached the spot.
