PM to appear before court: Kaira
ISLAMABAD: Federal minister of Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira has said that the constitution is supreme and the Parliament is the constitution-making institution.

He said the Prime Minister would appear in court on 18th September and accept whatever ruling the court issues.

Addressing a workshop in Islamabad, the Information Minister said that the Supreme Court was supreme in the judiciary where as the Parliament was supreme among institutions but as far as legislations are concerned the Constitution is supreme.

He said: "It made sense that since it is the Parliament that formulates constitutions, so naturally its decisions should be the ones that be accepted."

He further said that the government had no intention to hijack the elections. The people have a freedom of choice to elect whoever they want and the independent media and judiciary are there to ensure free and fair elections in the country, he added.
