Supreme Court stops land transfers in Sindh
KARACHI: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has stopped the Department of Revenue from the transfer of land until their records are rectified.

A five member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali heard the Karachi law and order case at its registry here.

During Wednesday’s proceedings, the apex court directed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to chalk out a plan for new delimitation of constituencies and present it in the court in three days.

Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali ordered secretary election commission Ishtiaq Ahmed to mark such constituencies where there is no hold of any single political party or group. Chalk out a comprehensive plan with the coordination of Sindh government in three days and present it in the court, he said.

Secretary ECP said the commission is ready to comply with court orders. Normalization of Karachi situation is desire of all, he said.
Ishtiaq Ahmed vowed that delimitation of constituencies work will be completed in two months, adding that there will be any solution when we sit together.

Secretary ECP informed the apex court that a meeting has been convened today for delimitation of Karachi constituencies in order to comply with the orders.

A meeting will also be held with all the stakeholders on Friday besides holding a meeting with provincial government. Besides technical there are political issues as well in the delimitation of Karachi constituencies, the secretary added.
