Windies register thrilling 2-wicket win against South Africa
CUTTACK: West Indies recorded a thrilling victory of two wickets against South Africa in their first match in the Super Six stage 0f the Women’s World Cup 2013 here at the Barabati Stadium on Friday.

Chasing a modest target of 231, the West Indies completed the easy win with 27 balls remaining losing eight wickets.

However, they were grateful to a marvelous innings of 75, played by Stafanie Taylor. She struck nine fours and a six to guide her team to their first win in the Super Sixes.

Other main scorers were Kycia Knight (46), Shemaine Campbelle (33) and Deandra Dottin (24) but no other batsman could get into double figures.

For South Africa, leg-spinner Dane van Niekerk captured three and medium-pacer Marzanne Kupp took two wickets.

Earlier, South Africa batting first after winning the toss, made 230 for seven in 50 overs with main contributions of 45 by Trisha Chetty and 44 by Cri-zelda Brits.
