Pakistan team returns home after dismal WT20 performance

LAHORE: Players of Pakistan cricket team returned home amid tight security and chants of "shame, shame" after a dismal show in the ICC World Twenty20 tournament in India.

Pakistan was ousted from the World T20 after losing three out of four matches. They lost to India, New Zealand and Australia to finish their journey in the mega-event.

The team returned in three groups, with flights landing in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.

Disappointed fans at the Lahore Airport showed their anger at the team's dismal show and chanted slogans against players as team members stepped out of airport terminal.

“Players, minus Amir, were greeted with shame, shame slogans as soon they came out of airport,” said an eyewitness.

“Amir, however, received praised from fans and they kept on filming videos of the pacer,” the eyewitness said.

Along with Mohammad Amir, team members Mohammad Hafeez, Wahab Riaz, Ahmed Shahzad, Mohammad Irfan and Umar Akmal also arrived in Lahore.

Head coach Waqar Younis and team manager Intikhab Alam were among the team officials who arrived with players at Lahore, who were rushed to national Cricket Academy from Airport.

Five members of team, including the vice-captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, arrived in Karachi.

Players were rushed to their vehicles from airport under tight security to avoid any possible reaction from angry fans at the airport.

Two other players, Muhammad Nawaz and Imad Waseem arrived in Islamabad.

Captain Pakistan Cricket team Shahid Afridi will return home after spending few days in Dubai to announce a final decision regarding future of his international career.
