PM Nawaz, COAS Gen Raheel to witness Saudi military exercises

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Army Chief General Raheel Sharif will visit the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to witness ongoing military exercises on special invitation from March 9, Pakistan Army’s spokesman said on Monday.

“On special invitation, COAS will visit KSA and witness ongoing Military Exercises from 9th of March, in the field for two days,” DG Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) tweeted today.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will also pay a three-day official visit to Saudi Arabia from Wednesday.

He is visiting the Kingdom on the invitation of the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud to witness the military exercise ‘North Thunder’, said a statement issued by the PM House.

Troops from 21 countries, including Pakistan, are participating in the exercises in the northern region of Saudi Arabia. The main goal of the exercises is to improve training in responding to the threat posed by terrorist groups.
