Will not bow down before illegally protesting PIA employees: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz has asserted that the government would not surrender before illegally protesting employees of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).

Nawaz Sharif said here Friday some elements did not want prosperity of PIA and the country, adding that the government will bring the national carrier back on the right track.

He went on to say that people had given PML-N government the mandate to make institutions better.

In an effort to block an impending strike, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif On February 01, extended the Essential Services Maintenance Act 1952 to the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) for six months.

However, PIA workers have been protesting against the proposed privatization of the national flag carrier despite the passage of Essential Services Maintenance Act.

Dozens of flights have been cancelled due to strike of the PIA employees.
